The US Open is the final Grand Slam event of the year. It is held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, New York City, USA. It is played on a medium/fast hard court DecoTurf II surface which is slightly lower in the first week then in the second week. Also they use the fast Wilson Extra Duty balls which will fast up things favoring the American players. The conditions suits to powerful hitters copped with a big serve while typical top spin players aren’t helped by the surface as the fast conditions neglect the spin effect. The weather is expected to be torrid in the first week with temperatures around 30°C, light winds while the humidity is medium/high which will make the conditions even faster and tricky to play. The US Open is unique as is the only Grand Slam that has tie-break in decider set. Roger Federer has a perfect record here with 51/5 W/L series winning five times in a row the tournament while last year he reached the final. Others players with notable record here are Nadal 21/7, Djokovic 20/5, Davydenko 21/9, Roddick 35/9, Berdych 14/7, Verdasco 16/7 but also we mention players with poor record like Melzer 8/8, Ljubicic 8/10, Baghdatis 2/4, Montanes 1/8, Gulbis 4/3, Bellucci 2/2, Kohlschreiber 6/7, Monaco 3/6 among seed players. Last year champion is Juan Martin Del Potro. Good luck and bet smart.

Soderling Robin (SWE) vs. De Bakker Thiemo (NED)
After a day with showers, the sun will appear again in US Open, but will not be torrid and the temperatures are perfect for playing but winds over 30 km/hr will make things tricky. Here will meet two hard hitting players. After a demanding opening round Soderling was in full control of the match against Dent, controlling the match from the beginning to the end. The Swede hit had 14 aces, 34 winners and just 11 unforced errors. After the Swede read the opponent’ serve things were easy for him, especially on second serve where he won 60% points on retrieving. Thiemo de Bakker advanced when Dodig pulled off with heat problems, when the score was 2-1 in his favor. The Dutch lost the opening set, he played a sloppy tie-break, but then Dodig problems was obvious and after he called for the first time for medical treatment, he started to move him from side to side an the exchanges to be longer which affected Dodig’s problem even more and he withdrew. Hard to judge his form but on his blog he looks determinate here saying: “Next up is Soderling. Time for revenge.” The revenge after Soderling beat De Bakker in semi-finals in Barcelona on clay this year. Both will look to win this one as with the winner of Montanes and Nishikori in the next round both has the chance to reach the quarter-finals. Both players have a solid serve and both hit hard from the back of the court, both have good retrieving skills and both from time to time likes to advance to the net, maybe better to Soderling. Not much to read in the win on clay as De Bakker was coming after two difficult rounds where he beat Ferrero and Tsonga while here is coming fresher. Soderling struggled against Haider-Maurer who basically has same game as the Dutch here only that De Bakker advance to the net and had good hands there. The Dutch know that in a five set he can take this one and we back De Bakker with handicap.

Monfils Gael (FRA) vs. Tipsarevic Janko (SCG)
The most interesting meeting this round. Both players looked impressive in the last round, Monfils beating Andreev and Tipsarevic beating Roddick.
